About Us

We are located in an idyllic location on Ninety Mile Beach on the secluded west coast of the Te Aupouri Peninsula in the very Far North of New Zealand. Enjoy unobstructed sweeping views over Ninety Mile Beach out to the Tasman Sea. Breathtaking sunsets.

Our location is ideal to explore Cape Reinga, West and East Coast beaches and numerous walks and activities nearby. The Fishing is amazing! The TeAraroa Trail (Hiking) passes along the property and we are a convenient stop between The Bluff and Ahipara.

Wild Horses frequent the area and sometimes come through our property. We have a coral and yards for your horses. We are completely self-sufficient for power and water so to have the least possible impact on the outstanding natural environment. Wifi is available for all guests.

Hukatere Lodge and Camp Ground offers accommodation for every budget.

Lodge

Hukatere Lodge is a historic timber building. The bedrooms and verandah were originally parts of the Nurses Quarters from the old Hospital in Kawakawa and were relocated to this site.

The kitchen joinery is made out of timber from a recycled water tank. The breakfast bar is made from recycled construction timber from the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

The Lodge features five (5) bedrooms with private bathrooms. Four rooms feature double beds and one features twin beds. All bedrooms open out onto the verandah with incredible views. There is a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering.

You can either book one or more rooms or the entire Lodge depending on your needs. Minimum two (2) night stay.

Cabins

Hukatere Lodge and Camp Ground has seven (7) cabins that feature various bed combinations. Cabins can sleep from one person up to five. Great for couples and families.

Camp Ground

Hukatere Lodge and Camp Ground has spacious places and sites for parking your Caravan or putting your Tent up.

Your Host

Gabi Pfaender, your host, is an artist with an avid interest in sculpture, painting, photography and printmaking. Her work is influenced by the costal scenery where she lives and works. Gabi is very passionate about creating and nurtering this place where people feel relaxed in a comfortable setting with all mode and coms. Hukatere Lodge and Camping Ground in the wilderness along the Ninety Mile Beach. Where you never stop to gaze at the forever changing scenery of the west coast.
